On Friday the 14th of March 2008 ten 'street radio' nodes went live in Southampton narrowcasting Hidden Histories -- stories from Southamptons Oral History Archive selected and arranged to correspond with the location of the 10 nodes.

Hidden Histories - Hive Networks about to launch oral history trail in Southampton

Years of research and development will come to a hopefully successfull climax on Friday March 14th with the launch of the Hidden Histories project in Southampton. The project is the result of a collaboration between Armin Medosch and the London based technology development group Hive Networks led by artist-engineer Alexei Blinov. By narrowcasting excerpts from Southampton's Oral History Unit on 10 listening stations in the city centre, we have created a new public interface for negotiating the past (and maybe future) of the city.

In this text urban researcher Prof. Dr. Maria da Silveira Lobo compiles some of the key facts about Megacity formation in Brasil, and reflects on event architecture and the spectacularisation of the City as well as on the role of NGOs. In November 2007 Ina Zwerger and Armin Medosch went to interview Maria for the forthcoming radio programme Brazil: Laboratory of the Future. Maria was so friendly to compile this text as a primer for our research. We thought that this text is an excellent resource, which should be made available to the public online.

Discussion with Gilberto Gil (and sometimes Claudio Prado) at Teia, Belo Horizonte 09.11.2007. As part of this festival a meeting of participants in the Pontos de Cultura Program was held where Gil answered questions from people in an exercise of direct government. Pontos de Cultura and the digital culture project are an effort by the Brazilian Government to spread digital culture, free software and copyleft ideas in cultural organisations in Brazil.

The Anchorage is a bay off Tanera Mor in the Summer Isles, in North-west Scotland. After swimming in this water for a few consecutive days and being quite annoyed with a strange sound that was disturbing my peace, I found out that the noise was a Sealscarer, a computer generated sound that kept seals away from the fish-farm further up the bay.
