The Cenotaph.
Theme: War from the perspective of Civilians.

According to Paul Grover it was deisgned by the same Architect who also built the Cenotaph in Whitehall but this one was erected 2 years earlier, in 1919. It serves to remember both world wars now.

The Pump

Cieron developed a special liking of this pump, but we are not sure why. It was used to water the Turnpike lane which was a dirt track. We dropped it as a node.

This is one of the most lively areas with the open space in front of the library and cafe.

Node 06 detail: The Children of Guernica

One of the most amazing stories when the working class people of Southampton rescued Spanish children who had become orphaned in the Spanisch Civil War. A tent city was built on the commons with all the resources coming from the people.
