Oral History Experts

The three ladies in this image either work for Southampton City Council heritage services or support the OHU as a volunteer. They took their time to listen into each node and apparently enjoyed it.

Hivebox on Lambpost near Titanic engineer's memorial

Well, I guess it's a variation on a theme, those nondescript boxes on light poles. They are pretty hard to photograph which is maybe the reason why I took so many images of them; another reason might be that I was so happy to see them up there and hear them working.

Hivebox on Lambpost in front of former Tyrell and Green building

The box in the image is node 07 and it plays stories about food of the poor and aspects of domestic life. For some reason this node has one of the best receptions, acoustically speaking -- it can be heard clearly from quite far away.

Radio in front of Guildhall

Radios of this type were available for hire at the launch. They are still available through the tourist office where you also get a map and a feedback form.

Listening in to Node 09, The Movies

A very concentrated listener at Nodce 09, the Movies. The content relates to a former movie theatre on the opposite side of the street.
