New Research Group on Technopolitics

Hi Nextlayerers,

this is the very infrequent TNL newsletter. I think it is time again to usw this way of getting in touch with you since, a) there are quite a few new subscribers and b) we have an exciting new research group called technopolitics.

To new subscribers a warm welcome. If you do have any trouble understanding the mechanics of the site, the things that you can do and that you cant, please dont hesitate to email me, preferably not as a response to this adress but to my other adress armin at easynet(dot)co(dot)uk

If you want to create what is usually called a blog post entry, you need first to be logged in, then go to create content and then select 'Research Journal Entry'. This is the most comprehensive content type on TNL. Please do not use 'article'.

There is also a Howto Section with some tips http://www.thenextlayer.org/howto

Regarding the Technopolitics project, this is a new initiative started together with Brian Holmes.

Some of the texts are public and we will keep to put some things out into the public web, but the real work goes on inside the group. We would be happy to see a few people join this effort. If you want to join you need to be logged on at TNL first, then click on 'groups' on the left side navigation menu under your name, then request membership for Technopolitics.

There is also the Peer Preview Group more specifically for sharing stuff about PhDs, which you could also join, or, if you like, create a new group of your own and invite people to join. If you want to do that email me and I tell you how.

Last not least I would like to encourage people to consider using their real names as log on names. As this site is about research, I would assume you want your name to be associated with the work that you do. In that same vein I would like to propose that you add to the information on your profile page. You get there by clicking on 'My Account' in the left side navigation menu. By sharing more about ourselves we have a better chance of getting to know each other and start interesting conversations.

So much for now, best greetings
Armin
