Lindsay's Transfer Report and Other Notes

I have uploaded my newly submitted transfer report as a file instead of pasting it here. I'm still learning how to use modules like these so bear with me! I have now uploaded three of the appendices to give any interested parties an example of how I have formatted the report. I have not included all the appendices as they are very large files due to high resolution images for printing. Most of the appendices take the form of blog posts and reports, and are not 'academic' in nature. They are for reference only, as the whole point of the Transfer report is to acknowledge and assess a candidate's study to date, rather than to espouse 'new knowledge'.

intuitive analysis

hi lindsay

slowing down with the dolphins here at seal rocks has been useful for the grounding theory method for me. i have spent time reading transcripts of interviews ive done last year, and lissening to the original audio recordings of the sessions, doing the margin noting, then really letting my mind wander aimlessly over the words, settling intuitively on the phrases that start vibrating ... i feel that it is helping me to *listen* to the ideas underneath the words of the interviewees

hard to explain what i mean

bit feels a bit like using the structured approach as a climbing board, then diving off into the deep

i wdnt mind having a chat about interviewing techniques with u and armin sum time..i guess i am doing semi-structured interviews...sometimes my questions are so dull....

the transfer does sound the same as your doc. assessment and thanks for taking some time to peruse over me notes... yes we do work in similar ways as intuitive beings, the artistic way. as you will see from my report, it is this fact that i have struggled to come to terms with ie. putting my artistic ways of encountering the world into a research framework that is based on a scientific method, and not on intuition.

i need to read more about grounded theory too, and how i can properly take it to the next stage past coding and into analysis. that part i feel could be quite creative and provide another avenue for the artistic way...

i just downloaded n read yr appendix 5

i think its a handy interface this file upload one

i only read yr #5 roughly and without glasses ! but i wanted to say that yr transfer report i think is like the Doctoral Assessment report i just had to write...and that only in the last few weeks my supervisor told me that what i am doing is grounded theory and i had to do some speed reading on it, and last week i bought some memo cards and started doing all that stuff of coding and cross referencing of themes

it has actually helped me make a bit of sense out of my case study notes...but i am doing the meth in quite an intuitive way as i think u say u r doing also, in that artist way..

anyway,,,will read some more of yr stuff here over the next little while, with glasses on when i find em
