The Queen Scallop is a beautiful creature whose colours really light up with the camera flash, making the opening between the two shells seem like diamond encrusted teeth. Any slight touch or sharp movement will send the teeth chattering, opening and shutting in an attempt to swim away; the first time I saw this I could not stop laughing as the movement really is like cartoon false teeth.

http://tnl-6.local/node/779#comments Image Storybook creatures fiction narrative teeth Water Sat, 27 Dec 2008 23:15:17 +0000 Lindsay 779 at http://tnl-6.local Underwater Cyborg http://tnl-6.local/node/776 http://tnl-6.local/node/776#comments Storybook Water civilisation fiction narrative pseudoscience science technological topography Mon, 15 Dec 2008 10:50:02 +0000 Lindsay 776 at http://tnl-6.local Underwater Cliffs http://tnl-6.local/node/775 http://tnl-6.local/node/775#comments Storybook Water fiction narrative pseudoscience science topography Mon, 15 Dec 2008 10:47:23 +0000 Lindsay 775 at http://tnl-6.local Cyborg Child http://tnl-6.local/node/774 http://tnl-6.local/node/774#comments Elektromagnetic Storybook beginning civilisation fiction narrative pseudoscience science technological Mon, 15 Dec 2008 10:39:45 +0000 Lindsay 774 at http://tnl-6.local Squid (4) http://tnl-6.local/node/771
Artist unknown
 http://tnl-6.local/node/771#comments Storybook Water creatures narrative pseudoscience science sea-travelers squid Waves Thu, 04 Dec 2008 23:11:17 +0000 Lindsay 771 at http://tnl-6.local Squid (3) http://tnl-6.local/node/768
Squid and octopuses have eight legs and both belong to the molluscan group Cephalopoda, which literally means "head footed”.

Photographer unknown.
