The hydrophone is sitting approximately 5 metres under the water against the side of the rocks. I could not get the microphone any further under as I was seven metres or so above on a mini-cliff which meant throwing the microphone in from height. Boddam Quarry is a fresh-water training site for dive clubs, so at this point there was six divers in total in the water.</p> <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="/sites/all/modules/contrib/audio/players/xspf_slim.swf" width="400" height="15"> <param name="movie" value="/sites/all/modules/contrib/audio/players/xspf_slim.swf" /> <param name="menu" value="false" /> <param name="quality" value="high" /> <param name="FlashVars" value="song_url=http%3A%2F%2Ftnl-6.local%2Faudio%2Fplay%2F791&song_title=QuarryTraining44" /> <embed src="/sites/all/modules/contrib/audio/players/xspf_slim.swf" flashvars="song_url=http%3A%2F%2Ftnl-6.local%2Faudio%2Fplay%2F791&song_title=QuarryTraining44" width="400" height="15" /> </object><br />3:36 minutes (4.14 MB)<p><a href="http://tnl-6.local/node/791" target="_blank">read more</a></p> http://tnl-6.local/node/791#comments English Water breathe diving fresh-water quarry rock sound amplification underwater Waves 3:36 Lindsay Sat, 10 Jan 2009 11:59:55 +0000 Lindsay 791 at http://tnl-6.local Sarah at 18 metres http://tnl-6.local/node/769 <p>Sunday saw my first cold-water dive to the maximum depth I am currently qualified to do (20m). The visibility was quite poor at 2-3 metres and any unnecessary movement with the legs, kicked up silt that obscured the person next to you. I can honestly say that I was a little nervous, and occupied my mind with the intricacies of varied life that was abundant on the reef at this depth. The dive site was Loch Creran, a specific area of conservation (SAC) between <a href="http://www.touristnetuk.com/sc/argyll/attractions/attractions.htm">Oban and Appin</a> on the West coast of Scotland.</p> <a href="/node/769"><img src="http://tnl-6.local/files/images/Sarah-18m.thumbnail.jpg" alt="Sarah at 18 metres" title="Sarah at 18 metres" class="image image-thumbnail " width="100" height="75" /></a> http://tnl-6.local/node/769#comments The Gleaners Water buoyancy depth diving pressure sea-loch silt visibility Waves Mon, 01 Dec 2008 20:17:36 +0000 Lindsay 769 at http://tnl-6.local Second Fins... http://tnl-6.local/node/741 <p>... as a rite of passage.</p> <p><img src="http://www.thenextlayer.org/files/images/second-fins.jpg" /></p> <p><a href="http://tnl-6.local/node/741" target="_blank">read more</a></p> http://tnl-6.local/node/741#comments English Water breath depth diving pressure saturation SCUBA Waves Sat, 22 Nov 2008 15:02:13 +0000 Lindsay 741 at http://tnl-6.local Second Fins http://tnl-6.local/node/740 <a href="/node/740"><img src="http://tnl-6.local/files/images/second-fins.thumbnail.jpg" alt="Second Fins" title="Second Fins" class="image image-thumbnail " width="75" height="100" /></a> http://tnl-6.local/node/740#comments Research Water being breath depth diving fins free-dive movement underwater Waves Sat, 22 Nov 2008 14:57:57 +0000 Lindsay 740 at http://tnl-6.local Tiny Little Fish http://tnl-6.local/node/737 <a href="/node/737"><img src="http://tnl-6.local/files/images/seal.thumbnail.jpg" alt="Tiny Little Fish" title="Tiny Little Fish" class="image image-thumbnail " width="75" height="100" /></a> http://tnl-6.local/node/737#comments Research Water being breath consciousness diving myth narrative pseudoscience science topography underwater Waves Sat, 22 Nov 2008 14:13:00 +0000 Lindsay 737 at http://tnl-6.local
