This file presents just a few random samples from an interview with him about the need for a history of media art. Bob mixes his thoughts about the meaning of communications with his memoirs about working those technologies from the late 1970s onwards. The beginnings were characterised by the specifically Canadian situation, a vast country that needed telecommunications to keep its ends together.</p> <p><a href="http://tnl-6.local/node/1478" target="_blank">read more</a></p> http://tnl-6.local/node/1478#comments English Recording media art media art history Mon, 13 Jan 2014 14:53:45 +0000 Armin Medosch 1478 at http://tnl-6.local Radiokolleg - Kommunikation statt Kommando? The recording was made off the North shore directly under the bridge and beside the sea wall. The vibration through the solid sandstone shore supports is quite unbelievable, the water cutting out the audible high frequency noise that we are distracted with in everyday situations, leaving the deep rumblings of a disturbed wall.</p> <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="/sites/all/modules/contrib/audio/players/xspf_slim.swf" width="400" height="15"> <param name="movie" value="/sites/all/modules/contrib/audio/players/xspf_slim.swf" /> <param name="menu" value="false" /> <param name="quality" value="high" /> <param name="FlashVars" value="song_url=http%3A%2F%2Ftnl-6.local%2Faudio%2Fplay%2F400&song_title=Tay+Bridge" /> <embed src="/sites/all/modules/contrib/audio/players/xspf_slim.swf" flashvars="song_url=http%3A%2F%2Ftnl-6.local%2Faudio%2Fplay%2F400&song_title=Tay+Bridge" width="400" height="15" /> </object><br />2:07 minutes (2.43 MB)<p><a href="http://tnl-6.local/node/400" target="_blank">read more</a></p> http://tnl-6.local/node/400#comments English Recording sound 2:07 Tay Bridge Wed, 09 Apr 2008 17:37:54 +0000 Lindsay 400 at http://tnl-6.local Mecca http://tnl-6.local/node/320 <p>Being a Muslim country, a large portion of the male population in Egypt is named after the prophet Mohamed. To ensure that its working population stays within its own country, the government is extremely restrictive to whom it will grant foreign travel visas to; this inevitably hangs on status allowing only the people with good jobs and the rich to leave as it can be almost certain that they will return. Egypt is still classed as a third-world country as much of its rural communities still live in extreme poverty.</p> <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="/sites/all/modules/contrib/audio/players/xspf_slim.swf" width="400" height="15"> <param name="movie" value="/sites/all/modules/contrib/audio/players/xspf_slim.swf" /> <param name="menu" value="false" /> <param name="quality" value="high" /> <param name="FlashVars" value="song_url=http%3A%2F%2Ftnl-6.local%2Faudio%2Fplay%2F320&song_title=Mohamed" /> <embed src="/sites/all/modules/contrib/audio/players/xspf_slim.swf" flashvars="song_url=http%3A%2F%2Ftnl-6.local%2Faudio%2Fplay%2F320&song_title=Mohamed" width="400" height="15" /> </object><br />0:06 minutes (126.57 KB)<p><a href="http://tnl-6.local/node/320" target="_blank">read more</a></p> http://tnl-6.local/node/320#comments English discussion Recording 0:06 Mohamed Wed, 23 Jan 2008 14:39:06 +0000 Lindsay 320 at http://tnl-6.local
